Walking into the room to see you’ve killed yet another potted plant is devastating. You think one day you will gain the habit of remembering to water that fern, but life gets busy, and once again, the leaves are wilting and touching the floor.

Plants help a room come to life, but it is easy to overlook them when you have a hectic lifestyle. There are easier ways to surround yourself with green without having to work hard for that green thumb. Spare a plant’s life and turn to lush faux botanicals!

To compete with real greenery, the home décor industry has amped up their game.  Now hyper-realistic faux plants are available.  How do these faux plants look so realistic?  Some companies that specialize and sell artificial plants use modern methods to bring their customers high-quality botanicals. One method, for example, is Scanography, scanning real flower petals and 3D printing them to create a realistic-looking fake flower or leaf.  Another method is taking molds of real leaves to get that raised veiny look.

The best way to begin decorating your home is to figure out which faux plants you want. Crowd favorites include succulents, cacti, or trim grass stems.  Then, find a cute ceramic pot you love that will hold your new immortal greens. Fill the planter halfway with real dirt. Using real dirt will give the illusion that you have that green thumb when guests or friends look at your potted succulents. Put a piece of floral foam in the pot to ensure that the plants will not move or fall out, resulting in a dirt mess. Fill the rest of the pot with dirt to hide the foam brick, and begin to place your plants in whatever arrangement that most compliments them.

Last, place your new lush arrangement on a surface in the room that shows off that bright green thumb of yours!
